2012 Infiniti M Hybrid

2012 Infiniti M Hybrid:  The 2012 M Hybrid is first vehicle to showcase Infiniti’s new full parallel hybrid system. This system utilizes an updated version of the 3.5-liter VQ35DE V-6 in conjunction with 50-kW motor (67-hp) that’s powered by Nissan’s proprietary 1.3-kWh lithium battery stack. When combined, the system is claimed to produce about 369 bhp, which is a 39 bhp gain over the M37. All things considered, the entire Hybrid system is quite tidy, adding a total of 264 lb. to the weight of an M37, which puts it right in between an M56 and the all-wheel-drive M56x.

 Although you don’t get quite the punch of that vicious V-8, the Hybrid definitely scoots with lively urgency while delivering its synergistic thrust with a smoothness I’ve never before felt from a VQ. The weight is somewhat noticeable, but with both lead-acid and lithium batteries mounted aft of the rear passenger seatback, it’s in the right place and therefore not overly detrimental to handling.Both the steering and braking systems in the M Hybrid are now electrically assisted and contribute to the M’s efficiency.

2012 Suzuki Swift:  The Suzuki Swift began as a marketing and manufacturing rebadge of the Suzuki Cultus, a supermini (or subcompact) manufactured and marketed worldwide across three generations and four body configurations—three-door hatchback, four-door sedan, five-door hatchback and two-door convertible—and using the Suzuki G engine family. The Suzuki Swift Sport 2012 comes equipped with a new Euro 5 1.6-liter VVT petrol engine that delivers 136HP and a maximum torque of 160Nm (118 lb-ft) at 4,000 rpm, with a newly designed 6-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels.

The Suzuki Swift S-Concept is lower and 60mm wider than that of the standard Swift, so it has such a strong presence that it doesn’t seem as compact as it actually is. Dynamic-looking front and rear bumpers and a big rear spoiler evoke high levels of acceleration and power, and 18-inch wheels give a sense of solidity and stability. 2012 Audi A3:  The 2012 Audi A3 maintains a reasonable amount of luxury and style that Audi is known for, thanks to an upscale and classy-looking interior. The 2012 Audi A3 comes with one of two engines: Audi’s (and parent company Volkswagen’s) familiar and sprightly 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 or a 2.0-liter TDI turbodiesel. The TDI isn’t nearly as quick, but it compensates with an EPA-estimated 42 mpg on the highway and 34 mpg in combined driving. One downside, however, is that Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system is not available with the TDI — something to consider if you live in an area prone to inclement weather or if road-holding prowess is a priority. 

The 2012 Audi A3 TDI features a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel four-cylinder that produces 140 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. S tronic is standard, but all-wheel drive is not offered. Audi estimates a 0-60 time of 8.9 seconds, which is on the slow side, but fuel economy is exceptional, with estimates of 30/42/34.The 2012 Audi A3 comes standard with front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, whiplash-reducing front headrests, antilock brakes and stability control. 2013 Ford Flex:  The front end of the 2013 Ford Flex is also more rounded than the previous model. As far as Limited and SEL models of the Flex are concerned, a number of options are included in the Appearance Package. The additional exterior options available include two-tone roof and mirror, and a new set of 20″ machined aluminum wheels.

 The interior of the new 2013 Ford Flex also gets a more modern and dynamic look, highlighted by new clusters, a refreshed steering wheel, and electronic finish panels, as well as new seat trim and foam. It also carries Ford’s new SYNC with the new generation of MyFord Touch. The whole set-up comes with two 4.2-inch screens in the instrument cluster and an eight-inch screen in the center stack to go with all the features that come with the SYNC package. There’s a hands-free, voice-activated calling via a Bluetooth-connected mobile phone or USB-connected digital music player.

The upgraded 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6 engine provides 285 horsepower – an approximate 20 horsepower increase from the previous engine – and 255 lb.-ft. of torque. The new Flex also is projected to deliver 1 mpg more fuel economy, with projected fuel economy of 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. This efficient V6 allows precise, variable control of valve overlap, or the window of time in which both the intake and exhaust valves in an engine are open at the same time. The popular 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 remains on the new Ford Flex, bringing the fuel economy of V6 engines with all-wheel-drive capability and V8-like performance of 355 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque.
